The telephone number for appointments is 01603 264600
We have a Duty Doctor each day who sees patients who request an appointment that day for emergencies and problems which cannot wait until next day.
If appropriate, appointments can be made with one of our Nurse Practitioners. In order to help the Receptionists decide whether a Nurse appointment is appropriate you may be asked some questions about your problem. You do not have to tell the Receptionist if you do not wish to and you can always see a Doctor rather than a Nurse if you insist.
Routine appointments can be made with the GP of your choice for up to two weeks in advance. It is always best to try to see your regular GP when following up a particular problem.
In addition we offer telephone consultations with Nurses and Doctors, and therefore if you feel that your problem can be dealt with over the phone please let the Receptionist know and she will book a time when you will be phoned back.
Appointments for the nurses and phlebotomists can be booked in advance.
Priority is always given to urgent cases and occasionally your appointment time may be delayed while a person with an urgent problem is seen by the medical and nursing staff. We would ask for your patience at such times.
If you have booked an appointment and find you no longer need it or have to change that appointment, please inform us so that it can be given to someone else.
On the Day Appointments
We have introduced a new system for on the day appointments. This system runs at our Drayton Surgery on weekday mornings where patients who need to be seen on the day are offered the opportunity to come to the surgery to join a queue to see one of our medical team (we cannot guarantee who you will be seen by, but you will be seen).
In order to keep waiting times to a minimum patients will be advised when the best time to arrive at the surgery, but there may be a longer than usual wait.
You will still need to ring our appointments number to book a slot, and you may be asked to provide some details of why you need to be seen. This will help in deciding whether a Doctor or Nurse will see you, but you do not have to disclose any information if you choose not to.
We hope that this system will allow us to see many more patients on the day and also free up many more pre-bookable appointments.
If you have any feedback on the new system please do let us know.
Home visits
If your illness prevents you from attending the surgery, you may be visited at home. If you think you need a visit please telephone before 1030hrs and be prepared to give a brief account of your problem to the Receptionist. Although you have requested a visit the Doctor may phone you to see if telephone advice is appropriate.
Out of Hours Emergencies
When the surgery is closed your telephone call will be answered directly by our Out of Hours provider, called Anglian Medical Care. They will deal with your problem, give you advice, ask you to go to an Out of Hours Primary Care Centre or visit you at home.
Touchscreen Booking
Patients arriving at either the Drayton or St Faiths Surgery have the facility to book themselves in via the Touchscreen Check In System.
By entering your date of birth, and if necessary the first letter of your surname, you can let our appointments system know that you have arrived without having to wait to see a Receptionist. The Doctor or Nurse will know you are here and will call you for your appointment as normal.
