Appointment DNAs
If you have attended the Surgery recently, you may have noticed signs indicating the number of "DNAs" (Did Not Arrives) for the previous month.
Every DNA costs the NHS time and money, and more importantly the loss of an appointment slot that could have been offered to another patient.
The following table shows the number of missed appointments for the month along with the number of lost man hours for that month:
| 2007 | Number of missed appointments | Number of wasted hours |
| January | 140 | 23 |
| February | 165 | 28 |
| March | 148 | 24 |
| April | 141 | 24 |
| May | 176 | 30 |
| June | 173 | 28 |
| July | 180 | 30 |
| August | 161 | 26 |
| Sep | 153 | 25 |
| Oct | 214 | 36 |
| Nov | 183 | 31 |
These wasted hours translate into the equivalent of the Practice losing one week of doctors appointments per month!
If we can reduce the number of DNAs, then more appointments will be available for all our patients.
